Why does a recurring meeting move by an hour?
A meeting held at the same local time in one city can appear at a different time in another city after a clock change. Some cities change clocks and others do not. Even cities that both observe daylight saving time can switch on different dates.
Why do London and New York briefly have a four-hour gap?
The UK and US use different clock-change dates. London is usually five hours ahead of New York. In the weeks between their spring and autumn transitions, it is four hours ahead. Use the date control above to compare a specific day.
What happens when an hour repeats or disappears?
When clocks go forward, some local times do not exist. The timeline moves a skipped time to the next valid minute and tells you why. The scheduling interface asks for a different valid time instead of silently changing a draft. When clocks go back, an hour can occur twice. You can choose which occurrence you mean. Both represent different real moments.
Are all clock changes exactly one hour?
No. Lord Howe Island in Australia has a half-hour seasonal clock change. TimeMingle uses the offset recorded for each city and date instead of assuming every clock change is one hour.
How should I plan a meeting across a clock change?
- Choose the city whose local meeting time should stay fixed.
- Set it as the reference city and select the meeting date and time.
- Open the upcoming clock-change panel and preview the week after the change.
- Check every participant's local date and time, then copy or share the comparison.
Where do these rules come from?
The converter uses a published snapshot of the IANA Time Zone Database. Daylight saving transitions already included in that database are handled automatically. Newly announced government changes need an updated database release to be published here.
Calculated from IANA time-zone data, version 2026e, checked . Future dates use currently announced rules. Governments can change those rules. Supported dates: 2020-01-01 to 2035-12-31.
